Entertaiment is the word used for activities, events, and experiences designed to provide pleasure or amusement. While the concept is often thought of in terms of fun and play, entertainment can also serve a more serious purpose as in various types of ceremony, ritual, celebration, or satire. Entertainment can occur on many scales, from an individual selecting a personal entertainment from the vast array of pre-recorded products available through the major record and film industries; to individuals entertaining themselves at home with new forms of media, to large public entertainment venues such as stadiums and arenas that can accommodate thousands.
